The Alpujarra experience
Cross country route.
(Along country tracks & paths with a small section on tarmac roads).

  • This route starts & finishes at Plaza España, next to Cádiar Town Hall.
  • On the day of the race bibs are released from 8am & the race commences at 10 a.m.
  • Close to here there will be several bars open for coffee, soft drinks and breakfast.
  • There will be sufficient water stations, generally near the relay points Lanjaron logo

starting

  1. Take the Pedro de Antonio de Alarcón (short road) at the first crossroads turn left towards Narila onto the road Pedro Conde. This is a gentle incline and a very pretty lane, full of Spring flowers that leads to the hamlet of Narila.

  2. On entering Narila head straight to Plaza San Roque (there is a natural fountain here and you can drink the water) go across the plaza onto Calle Naranjillos.

  3. Where indicated take a sharp left turn downhill and this country route takes you along the riverbed to the direction of the Cádiar zone called Cuesta Rincon. The path is uneven and please do watch for the signs indicating the exact route. This is because it follows a country trail and please place rubbish in the designated areas.

  4. As you leave the riverbed, turn right & cross the bridge & then first left sharp downhill following track round to the left down to the river. Turn right onto the track continuing alongside the river. Can be uneven although fairly flat.

  5. As you get to the second bridge, do not turn left, pass the kennels on your right & go straight across until you come to the first water station and 1st relay point which is before the signs for the Alquería de Morayma Hotel. This route has a slight downhill incline. At the junction take the left fork & carry on along the wide track next to the river, it can get muddy and slippy. Take care when crossing the bridge over the river, it can be slippery if wet. Follow the wide track alongside the river which takes you to a steep hill. This will bring you to just before the road entrance of the Alquería de Morayma Hotel. There will be a water station in this area.

  6. Before the main road, take the track left, head for the river & the village. There is a water station & the second relay point (same location as the first relay point).

  7. Heading for the village, pass the vines & Ostrich, take the street route through Calvario, Calle Baja, Calle Puentezuelas, Calle Real, Plaza de la Iglesia, Calle Real, Calle Prado and then follow for the river.

  8. After the mill, turn right, then sharp left, over a narrow track & loop round, follow the river bed in the direction of the football pitch. From here start the second lap, direction Morayma hotel. 3rd relay point & water station by the football pitch

  9. On returning to the village (for the 2nd time) right at the Church square for Calle San Isidro & left onto Pedro de Alarcón & finish in the Town Hall square.

Congratulations on completing the course, before departing please ensure you collect your finisher’s medal, goody bag and have a complimentary drink in Bar Musica.

 

  • Prizes will be awarded at approximately 2.00 p.m.
  • There is a good selection of restaurants in the area for lunch.
  • Timings will be posted on the web site, by race bib number.
